New Webcast Launched! In April the Media Center launched a news webcast program called “Cal-Pac United Methodists Making a Difference.” This program provides news and information from United Methodists around the Cal-Pac Conference on how this conference is making a difference in the lives of people in meaningful and relevant ways.
Our programs so far have featured news like La Plaza United Methodist Church’s struggle to keep its doors open and the Media Center’s website workshop to help local churches develop a website ministry for their churches.
Our most recent program features the happenings of our 2011 Annual Conference held at University of Redlands. This program is approximately 7 minutes long and can be watched and downloaded at Vimeo.
www.vimeo.com/channels/calpacWe hope that you will make use of this resource and show it as part of your Annual Conference report to your local churches. If you cannot download the program, please call the Media Center at (626) 568-7366 or (800) 748-5855 for a DVD copy of the program.
Please encourage your local church members to view the “Cal-Pac United Methodists Making a Difference” program. I think it will help them to see how we are all connected as a Cal-Pac family and not just isolated local churches.
Testimonials
"I thought each of the programs was technically and artistically very well done. They were briskly paced, and expertly written, photographed and narrated. I see no reason why churches throughout the conference shouldn't get really excited about this wonderful resource for information and inspiration". - Hilly Hicks, Senior Pastor at Emmanuel UMC, San Bernardino and former producer at United Methodist Communications
Welcome to the Cal-Pac Media Center website. This website provides a window into the various services available to United Methodist Congregations, Christian Educators, and other interested persons. The Cal-Pac Annual Conference voted on June 2010 to establish five essential ministry teams to carry out the work of the annual conference. The Media Center has various media resources (DVDs, rental equipment, etc.) to help local churches and districts implement these ministries.
In addition to DVDs, we encourage churches to use video projectors and help youth produce short videos on mission trips or other events. We live in a world now dominated by films, television, DVDs and the internet, yet most churches fail to make use of media in their Sunday school classes, worship services, small groups, etc.
I believe this is an exciting time for our Conference as we seek to make “Christian Disciples for the Transformation of the World.” It is my prayer that we will be renewed and refreshed as we embark in these five essential ministry teams. Please contact us for any more information. We look forward to hearing from you and may we all keep working together for the Kingdom of God.
Testimonials
"Our adult Sunday School class found an excellent alternative to relying on one permanent teacher or to inviting a series of guest speakers who require honorariums. We discovered DVDs at the Conference Media Center". - Gerry Rankin, Member of Challengers at Glendale 1st UMC
